Frequently Asked Questions
The vast majority of functional bars fit into one of three categories. They provide “energy” (from sugar and carbs) they’re high in protein (usually in the form of animal protein), or they comply with a particular diet (such as paleo or keto).
Real Food Bars focus on three key value propositions – plant-based protein that is high in bioavailability, prebiotic fiber for a healthy microbiome and immunity, and sustainable ingredients that are naturally better for the environment. They comply with virtually every diet, contain a moderately low level of net carbs and paleo friendly. What’s more, we are creating a circular food economy by upcycling kale, sweet potato and cauliflower to do our part in averting food waste.
We lightly sweetened Real Food Bars with organic blue agave nectar. It provides a lightly sweet flavor and is low glycemic so it will not affect blood sugar levels in the same way as some sugar alcohols. At the end of the day, we believe sugar is not necessarily the enemy, but should be fully disclosed on a nutrition panel. We’re proud to keep the sugar content of each bar at 10g or under.
While we like to call ourselves “paleo friendly”, Real Food Bars have a small amount of rice starch found in our pea protein crisps that provide a nice crunch.

Absolutely! Kiddos love them, moms love the nutrition.
If you are not 100% happy with your order, we will refund you.
Real Food Bars are $2.99 per bar or $2.69 per bar, with a monthly subscription. This is a comparable price to other leading protein bars. They contain premium quality ingredients designed to be more nutrient dense than other bars and up to 18% bigger so you get a better nutritional “bang for your buck.”
Many of our customers consume them for breakfast or as an on-the-go mini-meal. At this price, they are far cheaper than other healthy snack options!
Real Food Bars are made without dairy, soy or gluten.
They are manufactured in a facility that undergoes strict measures for cleaning all equipment prior to production runs to eliminate any potential allergen exposure. The facility is gluten free certified and Non-GMO Project Verified.
They are however produced in a facility that manufactures dairy, soy, peanuts, almonds, coconuts and other tree nuts. We recommend that you avoid our products if you have a very high sensitivity to these allergens.
Orders placed before 12pm CST are processed the same day. Typical shipping is 1-3 days for most of the Continental U.S. Due to COVID and additional pressures on the supply chain, please anticipate delays that may occur.

According to the Upcycled Food Association, upcycled foods use ingredients that otherwise would not have gone to human consumption, are procured and produced using verifiable supply chains, and have a positive impact on the environment.
We currently upcycle kale, sweet potato and cauliflower into each of our bars. We look forward to upcycling additional ingredients as the company grows. By upcycling ingredients, imperfect or surplus produce is rescued from landfills and converted into nutritious vegetable powders.
In the United States, food waste is estimated at between 30-40 percent of the food supply. Americans discard approximately 40 million tones of food every year.
Soluble tapioca fiber is a prebiotic (i.e., gut-friendly) fiber known as a “resistant dextrin”. It is isolated by heating the tapioca root (also known as the cassava root) and extracting its fiber content. While the FDA has recently re-classified certain compounds formerly labeled “fiber” as non-fiber carbohydrates, it has remained firm in its classification of resistant dextrin as a 100% legitimate fiber.
Soluble tapioca fiber is NOT to be confused with isomalto-oligosaccharide (usually referred to as IMO), which can also be derived from the tapioca root. IMO is not a resistant dextrin, but rather a fiber-like sweetener that the body almost completely breaks down into blood glucose. Here is a great study on the topic, where scientists compare Soluble Corn Fiber (which is virtually chemically identical to Soluble Tapioca Fiber) to IMO and find a vast difference in blood sugar and insulin response.
