We recently got a chance to give back to our local community by partnering with an anti-human trafficking organization called AWOL. AWOL stands for All Worth of Love.
All Worthy of Love is a justice focused non-profit that reaches out to men and women enslaved by street-prostitution. They work in a three stranded cord; prevention, rescue, and restoration. They prevent sex-trafficking through awareness through various speaking engagements at local churches, schools, and small groups to educate the community of modern day slavery. A major component of their mission is to rescue victims of trafficking through weekly outreach. They also restore victims of trafficking through partnerships with local organizations that offer safe housing and restorative care.
By partnering with AWOL, we are able to provide continuous support to them through the distribution of a healthy food bar to those they serve during their weekly outreach. Each week their team conducts outreach and passes out 50-100 meals to individuals currently engaged in street prostitution. A team of 4 goes out to the same neighborhood every week in order to build relationships and offer restorative care. The meals consist of a hearty sandwich, a protein bar, a drink and/or a small snack. They currently work in Detroit and Austin, but are looking to expand across select cities nationwide.
